This is just one of the beautiful animals Tom has made. At this time, I do not have the exact dimensions of The Lion, but I will post them here soon.

The mane is made up individual pieces, mounted on springs so that they move when touched.

Your uncle is a talented woodworker and a clever designer to create this piece. Reading about the hidden springs in his mane make me wish you would show us a short video of its movement. I imagine it must be amazing in person.

On another note, I'd love to know what kind of wood he used in the mane, it's got the most interesting pattern.

Thank you! My uncle lives in Nebraska and I live in California, so I have not actually seen it in person either. I have only seen a few of his pieces in person, and you're right, they are pretty amazing.

I will see if I can get him to send me a video of the mane in motion. That is a really good idea.

As for the wood, I think it's just Pine, but I'm not positive. I'll ask and get back to you on that.
